PDF: Private Document Fortress — Website Terms of Use
Effective date and last updated: 1 November 2026
Applies to: https://free-pdf.xyz/ only. The App is governed separately by its End-User Licence Agreement.
1. These terms and what they cover
This website (the “Site”) is operated by Elijah Wong (“we”, “us” or “our”) to describe PDF: Private Document Fortress for macOS (the “App”). These Website Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern access to and use of the Site. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the Site.
These Terms cover the Site only. Downloading, installing and using the App is governed separately by its End-User Licence Agreement at https://free-pdf.xyz/eula and the applicable distribution service’s terms. Our handling of information is described in the Privacy Policy at https://free-pdf.xyz/privacy. The Site does not operate a shop, offer subscriptions or accept document uploads.
2. Information only — no advice
Site content, including feature descriptions, document examples, screenshots and illustrations, is provided for general product information. It is not legal, medical, financial or other professional advice and does not create a professional advisory relationship. Examples and demonstrations do not guarantee a particular result with your documents.
We aim to keep information accurate, but features, compatibility and availability can change. Check the information accompanying the release you obtain. Important document edits, signatures, redactions, conversions and automated suggestions should be checked before you rely on them. Nothing here excludes liability for a binding representation where doing so would be unlawful.
3. Our content
Original Site text, design, graphics, illustrations and branding belong to us or their respective rights holders and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may view, download and print Site pages for personal or internal reference. Other copying, republication, distribution or commercial exploitation requires permission unless applicable law or an express licence allows it. Do not falsely claim affiliation or endorsement.
Publisher-owned software is proprietary under its accompanying terms. Viewing or downloading a file does not grant ownership or permission to modify or redistribute publisher-owned software. Third-party components retain their own licences and notices; these Terms do not restrict permissions those licences grant. We do not promise publication of proprietary source code or private development materials.
4. Acceptable use
Do not use the Site unlawfully, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, disrupt its availability, unlawfully harvest information or misrepresent your association with us. Do not systematically extract or republish protected content without permission except where applicable law or a licence permits it.
These rules do not prohibit ordinary browsing, access to expressly offered downloads, lawful security research or non-waivable legal rights. Report security concerns to support@free-pdf.xyz without sending other people’s confidential information.
5. The app, downloads and links
Any App Store link takes you to a service operated by Apple under its own terms. Any download expressly offered on the Site is governed by the licences accompanying it. These website Terms do not replace the App’s EULA or create a promise that a release is already available. Check the release and availability information before downloading.
The current App is free, without subscriptions or in-app purchases. Any future pricing or offering would be identified separately; the applicable store information governs a transaction, subject to mandatory law. We do not process payment-card information through this Site.
External sites and model-download providers operate independently under their own terms and policies. A link does not imply endorsement or give us control over their content, availability or practices. Any legal responsibility that cannot be excluded remains unaffected.
6. Privacy
The Privacy Policy at https://free-pdf.xyz/privacy explains local document processing, optional model-download requests, support correspondence and website processing. Ordinary local document use does not send documents or prompts to us.
Website delivery and security services process connection information. The Site uses browser storage for appearance preferences, and Cloudflare may set a bot-protection cookie. We do not describe the Site as entirely cookie-free. Emailing support provides us and our email service providers with the information you send. See the Privacy Policy for details and your choices.
7. Disclaimer and liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the informational Site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability, complete accuracy or suitability for a particular purpose. Except for non-excludable rights and binding express commitments, we disclaim warranties concerning the Site to the extent that the particular disclaimer is lawful, fair and reasonable.
For business use, we exclude indirect, consequential and special losses and loss of profits, business opportunities or goodwill arising from use of the Site, only where the particular exclusion is legally permitted. For consumers, these Terms do not remove mandatory remedies or impose a blanket exclusion for loss for which we are legally responsible.
Nothing here excludes liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Responsibility for the App itself is addressed separately in its EULA. Third-party component licences retain their own terms.
8. Changes
We may update the Site and these Terms, showing a revised date when we do so. Material changes apply prospectively as lawfully agreed, with additional notice or agreement where required. Posting revised terms does not retrospectively remove accrued rights or third-party licence permissions.
9. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by Hong Kong law, subject to mandatory protections that apply to you. Hong Kong courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction, without removing any mandatory right to bring proceedings elsewhere or complain to a regulator. We do not have final authority to decide a legal dispute or override a court’s decision.
10. General provisions
If a provision is invalid or unenforceable, it is severed to the extent legally possible and the remaining provisions continue, provided doing so is lawful and preserves mandatory protections. A failure or delay to enforce a right does not itself waive it.
We may restrict access where reasonably necessary to address a material breach, unlawful access, security threats or service maintenance, subject to applicable law. This does not authorise interference with your local documents or revoke rights preserved by an independent software licence. Nothing in these website Terms overrides mandatory law or applicable third-party permissions.
